When people think of corrosion, they picture rust on a car or oxidation on silverware, but corrosion is no small problem! Corrosion of metals threatens the infrastructure that we rely on everyday. Items that are expected to last for decades are falling victim to corrosion and require constant repairs, maintenance, and replacement. Infrastructure annual costs for repairs, maintenance or replacement are estimated in the billions.

Cathodic protection stops and delays the progress of corrosion on metal structures in soil, water, and concrete. This effective corrosion prevention program will require sacrificial anodes for cathodic protection of metal infrastructure. The anodes use highly active metals that will be consumed in place of a less active metal surface, consequently protecting it from corrosion. The theory is to bury these sacrificial anodes, which are never to be seen again until there is an apparent problem.

Corrblock’s magnesium based superior-potential sacrificial anodes will offer the highest protection available.
